Sevastopol police advise owners of two-wheeled vehicles to remember the safety of their property
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Sevastopol police periodically record thefts of two-wheeled vehicles: bicycles and personal mobility equipment. To prevent such thefts, the police urge citizens to take precautions.
To prevent thieves from stealing a bicycle or personal mobility device, do not leave it unattended on the street, near a store or on a landing, even if you are away for a very short time and the entrance door is locked.
If there is still a need to leave, the two-wheeled vehicle should be fastened with a special cable with a reliable lock. It is recommended to fix it by the wheel and frame, and if the cable allows, by both wheels and the frame. In addition to an anti-theft cable, it is recommended to install a bicycle alarm. Remember, leaving a two-wheeled vehicle for a long time unattended is dangerous, even if there is a special cable; store the vehicle in a place inaccessible to strangers.
When leaving a bicycle or SIM on the street, if possible, place it within the range of installed CCTV cameras.
To prevent an attacker from taking possession of your two-wheeler fraudulently, do not hand it over to strangers or unfamiliar people under the pretext of “riding.”
After purchasing a bicycle or scooter, you should save technical documentation and receipts. In case of theft, they can serve as evidence in a criminal case. It is also recommended to write down its frame number.
If you find a two-wheeled vehicle missing, you must immediately report it to the police by calling 102, describe the characteristics of the stolen property and provide the frame number (if known). Before the arrival of law enforcement officers, it is recommended to take measures to search for possible eyewitnesses of the crime, ask them to describe the attackers and wait for the arrival of internal affairs officers to subsequently testify.
