CrimeaPRESS reports:

In the first quarter of this year, Russian residents purchased 23.1 million packages of allergy medications, which is 10% more than the same period last year. For January-March 2024, total sales reached 5.17 billion rubles — this is 24% higher than last year, analysts of the state labeling system “Honest Sign” calculated.

Allergies have long ceased to be a seasonal problem and can bother you throughout the year. We record that in the first quarter of this year, the demand for drugs containing dimethindene, which has an antiallergic and antipruritic effect, increased the most — in physical terms, sales of these drugs increased by 18% over the year. At the same time, not only allergy sufferers, but also people with sensitive skin can suffer from itching. Sales of drugs containing fexofenadine, used against allergic rhinitis, increased by 15%. The peak demand for antihistamines is still ahead; we will be able to evaluate the results of this season based on the results of the first half of the year,” commented Egor Zhavoronkov, head of the “Pharma” product group of the CRPT (operator of the state labeling system “Honest Sign”.

Analysts at Chestny Znak noted that Russians began to give preference to the latest generation of drugs. Thus, the average price of a package sold increased by 9% to 237 rubles compared to the 1st quarter of last year.

In terms of the number of packages sold per capita, the leadership belongs to the Moscow region — 2,254 packages. Next come the Kaliningrad region (2,167 packages), the Kamchatka Territory (2,049 packages), the Republic of Crimea (1,971 packages) and the Smolensk region (1,959 packages). The top ten also included Kaluga region (1,948 packages), Penza region (1,891 packages), Voronezh region (1,869 packages), St. Petersburg (1,864 packages) and Amur region (1,840 packages).

For reference:

In the Russian Federation, labeling applies to 17 categories, which account for 15% of the country’s non-resource GDP. Thanks to the introduction of labeling, the share of illegal goods in the perfumery industry decreased by one fifth, in tobacco by a quarter, in shoes by a third, and in tires and tires the share of counterfeit goods decreased by half. In the water market, the labeling identified about 460 producers who had not previously reported to the authorities. The total effects of labeling are estimated at 791 billion rubles.
