Sevastopol residents are medalists of the championship of the Southern Federal District in taekwondo

In the athletics arena of the city of Shakhty, Rostov Region, the taekwondo championship of the Southern Federal District among cadets aged 12-14 was held. More than 350 athletes took part in the competition, the start was a selection for the Russian championship.

Mikhail Ogorodov became the winner in the weight category over 65 kg, Elisey Tarasov won the first place in the category up to 61 kg. The boys have long established themselves as the leaders of the Sevastopol team.

Among the girls, Elizaveta Gross celebrated the victory in the category up to 59 kg, the silver medal of the Sevastopol team was brought by Taisiya Ivkina in the category up to 47 kg.

Also, the piggy bank was replenished with four bronze medals, their owners were Vladislav Shlyakhov, Gleb Golovanov, Nikolozy Mamukashvili and Eva Ignatenko. All athletes are pupils of sports school No. 7.

Taekwondo is actively developing in our city. The guys often perform at away competitions of various levels and qualifying stages. Two new sports and recreation complexes will appear in Sevastopol, where classes in martial arts will be organized— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the department for youth and sports, Sergei Reznichenko.

Tomorrow the medalists go to the All-Russian competition «Ryazan Kremlin Cup». Competitions will be held in Ryazan, more than 1,500 participants are expected.
