Support: a “foster family” will help solve the problem of loneliness of elderly Sevastopol residents

In Sevastopol, a program is being implemented to create a comfortable family environment for lonely elderly and disabled people — the “foster family”. This is part of the regional project «Older Generation».

The project involves living together and maintaining a common household with a person who needs constant outside care due to the complete or partial loss of the ability to self-service. The age of the ward is from 55 for women and from 60 for men. Disabled and incapacitated persons under guardianship may also be accepted into a “foster family” at the age of 18 years. And the host for cohabitation must be a citizen no older than 70 years , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Olga Matus, head of the department of social services at home of the comprehensive center of social services.

This year, the monthly remuneration for caring for an elderly or disabled person has been increased to 7,500 rubles. Previously, the amount of such payment was 4,000 rubles per month.

Such a “foster family” can simultaneously care for no more than two wards. Participants of the program choose the place of residence independently. The main condition is that the receiving and receiving parties should not be close relatives (children, parents, spouses) to each other.

The budget of the foster family, as agreed by the parties, is spent on food, the purchase of essentials, medicines, housing and communal services and other needs. At the same time, the amount of funds that the ward contributes to the family budget cannot exceed 75% of his total income , — said the head of the department.
