CrimeaPRESS reports:

On February 2 and 3, Ryazan hosts design, analytical and presentation events as part of the All-Russian project «Museum Routes of Russia», organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Today Elena Morozova, Director of Tauric Chersonesos, was among the experts at the forum. The goal of the Museum Routes of Russia project is to popularize the unique cultural and historical heritage among the citizens of our country and to involve the largest possible number of display objects in the cultural circulation. The key topics of the first 2023 session of the forum were the practice of art collaborations between museums and theaters and the issue of representing cultural institutions in the modern information space. Tauric Chersonesos takes part in the forum for the third year in a row. Today, the director of the museum-reserve, Elena Morozova, spoke at the plenary meeting of the design and analytical session with the report “There is one spectator between the museum and the theater.”

Certainly, the museum space looks quite tempting, attractive place — especially for the theater, which is looking for new forms of interaction with the audience. Such cooperation makes it possible to fit the performances into the surrounding historical environment and be transported to the necessary era, completely immersed in what is happening. Tauric Chersonesos is a unique platform, and its monuments and landscapes become living scenery, complementing the action unfolding on the stage , — the head of the cultural institution noted in her speech.

Elena Morozova said that one of the main attractions of the museum-reserve is the Antique Theatre, built in the 3rd century BC. e. and used for staging performances today. The main project implemented on its stage is “Summer Evening in Chersonesos”, which annually gathers more than 620 spectators. Over the past six seasons, residents and guests of the hero city have enjoyed hundreds of performances by leading theaters in Crimea and Sevastopol. Among the historical productions presented on the territory of the ancient city, one can note “The Poisoned Tunic”, “Women in the National Assembly”, “Forget Herostratus!” and the dilogy “The Trojan War. Beginning» and «The Trojan War is over!».

Speaking at a forum in Ryazan, the director of the museum-reserve dwelled in detail on the festival of opera and ballet «Chersonesos», which enjoys incredible success among admirers of high art. It was within the framework of it that the tours of the Bolshoi, Mikhailovsky and Mariinsky theaters were held, organized under the auspices of the Russian Seasons ANO, with the assistance of Vision Media Center LLC and with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of Sevastopol.

During the presentation, Elena Morozova noted that for several years more than 14 thousands of guests of the museum-reserve got acquainted with the history of Tauric Chersonesus at the grandiose multimedia performance «Griffin». It was created with the support of the My History Foundation based on the play of the same name by the chairman of the Patriarchal Council for Culture, Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) of Pskov and Porkhov. For four seasons, the performance was shown more than 80 times. At the premiere of the production, timed to coincide with the celebration of the Day of the Baptism of Rus’ in 450 year, Russian President Vladimir Putin was present in Chersonese Tauride, highly appreciating what he saw.

The director of the cultural institution told the audience that another important platform that made it possible to unite the theater and the museum space was the Night of the Arts and Night of the Museums events. As part of these events, the stage is the ancient city, and guests of Tauric Chersonesos can enjoy immersive performances and theatrical performances performed by the best artists of the Crimea and Sevastopol.

Elena Morozova emphasized that the museum-reserve in its spiritual and educational activities often uses performances as a method of communicating with visitors. For example, collaborating with students of the theater workshop of the Russian State Pedagogical University. A. I. Herzen when conducting excursions, as well as with the Sevastopol Academic Dance Theater named after Vadim Elizarov when preparing thematic performances “Under the Christmas Star” and “Christmas Ginger Tale”. Elements of theatrical activity are also used on the interactive excursion «Hello, Chersonese!», where participants try on chitons and masks to feel like ancient actors.

After listening to the speech of the Director of the Museum-Reserve, Secretary of State — Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation A. Yu. Manilova thanked Elena Morozova and suggested that the leaders present at the plenary session take what was said into service:

The experience of Tauric Chersonesos is a model experience. All areas of collaborations have already been presented and are being successfully implemented in the museum-reserve. Theater, opera and ballet have come together in the archaeological museum, making it less static. Art allows you to attract new visitors and diversify their cultural program. The experience of Tauric Chersonesos, undoubtedly, should become an example for all archaeological museums in the country.

The work of the first session of the Museum Routes of Russia project will last until February 4. In the 2023 year, expert presentations will also be held in the Penza, Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Voronezh, Irkutsk, Vologda, Orenburg regions, in the Komi Republic, in Tatarstan, in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — Yugra, and will end in St. Petersburg.
