Tauride Chersonesos gives tickets to the future. Third year in a row

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Tauride Chersonese fulfills childhood dreams and is the only one among the museums of Crimea and Sevastopol to participate in the career guidance project “Ticket to the Future.” Only here students in grades 6–11 can try yourself in the role of archaeologists, restorers and tour guides.

The director of the museum-reserve, Elena Morozova, noted that participants in the “Ticket to the Future” project are always welcome at the cultural institution:

Today we once again welcome schoolchildren who want to gain theoretical and practical knowledge and find their career path. Sevastopol is a city of Russian glory, history, monuments and museums, therefore professions such as archaeologist, restorer and tour guide are important and necessary for its development

As part of the “Ticket to the Future” project, students from school No. 27 got acquainted with Tauride Chersonese and then received practical skills. At an impromptu excavation site, the guys obtained their first artifacts, enjoyed the search, sketched and described the “treasures” they discovered.

Archaeological finds rarely fall into the hands of scientists in their original form, so today schoolchildren began work on their restoration under the guidance of an experienced restoration artist from the museum-reserve. In the final part of the career guidance lesson, the children learned about the sights of Tauride Chersonesus and composed their first excursion story, using the techniques of historical information, questions and answers, and others.

I really enjoyed trying myself in the role of an archaeologist and restorer. These professions are shrouded in romance, so it was especially interesting to see them from the inside and meet specialists in these fields,” notes Diana Sklyarenko, a student of the 8th “B” grade at school No. 27.
