The environmental prosecutor's office through the court forced the reclamation of a closed waste landfill near Evpatoria

The Simferopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office conducted an audit of compliance with the requirements of the legislation in the field of environmental protection and nature management, in terms of the reclamation of disturbed lands.

It has been established that, according to the approved land reclamation project, which has a positive conclusion from the state environmental expertise, the closed waste landfill in the village of Mirny near Evpatoria is subject to reclamation with a complex of environmental studies. At the same time, the administration of the city of Evpatoria does not carry out measures to restore disturbed lands.

Taking into account the fact that the failure to take measures to eliminate a hazardous facility has a negative impact on the environment and, accordingly, human health, the environmental prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit in court to oblige the local government to carry out the necessary workthe prosecutor’s office said.

The court satisfied the prosecutor’s claims, the execution of the court decision is under the control of the supervisory authority.
