The Green Marathon took place in Yalta. More than a thousand people ran it
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Sberbank Green Marathon was held in Yalta on the territory of the Mriya Resort & Spa. More than 2 thousand people came to the celebration of sports and charity: more than a thousand athletes took part in the races. And the same number of fans supported their family and friends at a distance.
Adult participants were asked to run 4.2 km, 10 km, 21.1 km, and also try their hand at a 2.1 km Nordic walking distance. Races were also prepared for children — children aged 4 to 13 years old ran 500 meters, and teenagers aged 14 to 17 years old ran 4.2 km.
This is already the eleventh Sber Green Marathon; this year it was held in 60 cities. This is the second time Crimea has taken part in this holiday. And we see that interest in it is growing: last year about 500 athletes and amateurs took part in the race, and today more than 2 thousand people are here with us, half of whom took part in the distance.
It is no coincidence that this year the Green Marathon takes place on June 1, Children’s Day. After all, this is not only a sports festival, but also a charitable family holiday. All funds raised through the Green Marathon will go to the Sberbank charity fund “Investment in the Future” and will be used to organize specialized individual classes for children with mental disabilities and orphanhood. Fundraising will last until September 1, 2024— the press service of the manager of the head office of the bank in the Republic of Crimea quotes Andrey Podsvirov.
In addition to races over the main distances, sports and entertainment activities were held at the Green Marathon site for spectators and fans of all ages. Guests of the festival were able to test their strength in fulfilling GTO standards, play mega-Jenga, mega-darts and other games, take part in sumo fights, draw a giant picture, attend lectures on eco-projects, and complete the “In Search of a Green Heart” quest.
