The investigator and the prosecutor's office are looking into the circumstances of the death of a patient in a medical facility in Dzhankoy

The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol is investigating a criminal case of causing death by negligence due to improper performance by a person of his professional duties (Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

It was established that in November 2023, a 35-year-old resident of the Dzhankoy district, suffering from a severe form of diabetes, went to the emergency room of the district hospital with complaints of a tumor in his leg; he underwent a vascular examination, which did not give any results. A few days later, the man was hospitalized in the surgical department. The patient’s health condition deteriorated significantly; he was transferred to the intensive care unit, where on November 12, after a set of resuscitation measures, he died— said the Sledkom.

The investigation examines the circumstances and quality of medical care at all stages, documentation, and appoints appropriate examinations.

The head of the investigation department in the city of Dzhankoy organized a personal reception for the mother and wife of the deceased man, and the information they provided will be carefully studied.

The progress of the criminal investigation is under the control of the leadership of the State Investigative Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

In addition, on behalf of the Crimean Prosecutor Oleg Kamshilov, an inspection was organized. As noted in the supervisory department, during the organized events all the circumstances of the incident will be established and an assessment will be made of the fulfillment of legal requirements in the provision of medical care. The progress of the investigation of the criminal case initiated by the investigative authorities on this fact has been taken under control.
