The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Crimea has approved 20 places for organized Epiphany ablutions

On January 19, Orthodox Christians celebrate the holiday of Epiphany. According to tradition, on this day, believers en masse perform the ritual of ablution in open reservoirs. According to the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Crimea, Sergei Sadakliev, the determination of such places is entrusted to the heads of local governments, and ensuring security, of course, is the direct responsibility of the rescue forces.

Currently, there is information about 20 places of Epiphany ablutions. This year, the administrations of the cities of Evpatoria, Sudak, Yalta, Alushta and Feodosia turned directly to the rescuers of the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea «CRIMEA-SPAS» for assistance. Employees of the Institution, together with representatives of the regional branch of ROSSOYUZSPAS LLC, will organize patrols in places where ablutions are traditionally performedsaid the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea.

He also added that rescuers, GIMS specialists, ambulance crews, representatives of law enforcement agencies and local authorities will be on duty in all places authorized for the ceremony.

There will be professional divers in the water. Please note that the list of places may change depending on weather conditions on the sea coast: in stormy conditions events will be prohibited,” emphasized Sergei Sadakliev.

In turn, employees of the Fire Department of the Republic of Crimea in rural areas will ensure the safety of holiday services. In total, from 500 to 1000 people are involved in ensuring the safety of Epiphany bathing annually from the RSChS of the Republic of Crimea.
