The project “March to the South — the Birth of an Empire” is exhibited at the Livadia Palace Museum

The project “March to the South — the Birth of an Empire”, which started in the Azov Museum-Reserve on the eve of the birthday of Peter the Great, is exhibited in the Italian courtyard of the Livadia Palace-Museum.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea, the opening of the exhibition was attended by Deputy Director of the Livadia Palace-Museum Ksenia Gernet, researchers from the Azov Historical-Archaeological and Paleontological Museum-Reserve named after A.A. Gorbenko, as well as students of the Livadia Secondary School named after Hero of the Soviet Union P.A. Seating arrangements.
The tablet exhibition project was prepared as part of the program “Russia Remembering Peter. Network of projects of the Assembly of Peter’s Museums of Russia.” Members of the Assembly of Peter’s Museums took part in the creation of the exhibition — Starocherkassk Historical-Architectural and Taganrog State Literary and Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserves. The stand exhibition consists of three blocks introducing visitors to the history of the annexation of the southern territories to the Russian state in the 17th-18th centuries. based on cartographic, pictorial and numismatic sources— said the press service of the Ministry of Culture.
The first block of the exhibition tells about the Cossack period of the struggle for the security of the Russian southern borders. The second is dedicated to Peter’s march to the south, the conquest of Azov, annexation to Russia and the development of the vast territory of the North-Eastern Azov region. The third block tells about the triumphant completion of the annexation of vast territories and Russia’s gaining access to the Black Sea.
The exhibition project, designed to unite several Russian museums and expand the exhibition geography, is available to visitors Livadia Palace until October 22 as part of a sightseeing tour.
