The Sevastopol team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia performed at the International competitions “Vertical Challenge”
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Sevastopol athletes of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia demonstrated good preparation at international level competitions. Traditionally, on National Unity Day, the “Vertical Challenge” competition was held in St. Petersburg. Rescuers and firefighters from all over our country and the Republic of Belarus competed for victory in the race to the top floor of a high-rise building.
Participants in full combat gear, wearing respiratory and vision protection apparatus, ran to a height of 145 meters, overcoming 39 floors — or 936 steps. 503 athletes took to the start line – the team of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the city of Sevastopol also tried their hand. 25 representatives of the fair sex also competed at the distance. Sevastopol participants — head of the radiation and chemical protection group Kamila Abramkina and deputy head of the civil defense and population protection department Marina Zasypkina — entered the top ten, taking 7th and 10th places, respectively. Our stronger sex firefighters, Yuri Cherniy, Nikita Ozerov and Dmitry Gonchar, also showed decent results. Everyone, first of all, won a victory over themselves, improved their own endurance, improved the skills that are so necessary in saving lives— note the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Sevastopol.
