The Sevastopol team won the All-Russian Sambo Competition

CrimeaPRESS reports:

On October 29, the grand opening of the All-Russian Sambo competitions dedicated to the memory of Hero of the Soviet Union D.S. took place on the basis of the new physical culture and health complex on Shevchenko. Odintsova. The athletes were greeted by Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev. He noted that the competition is being held within the framework of the United Russia party project “Za Sambo”.

This is a powerful, powerful project that has united sambo athletes throughout Russia. Competitions take place in many cities, and Sevastopol, of course, cannot stand aside. Today we are creating all the conditions so that as many children as possible can come to this truly national sport. This is our national struggle, with our ideology, with our understanding and philosophy of life. Therefore, the fact that you chose this type of struggle is very correct.– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the city.

More than 150 sambo wrestlers — boys and girls aged 14 to 16 years — from the Krasnodar Territory, Rostov Region, Astrakhan Region, Bryansk, Novosibirsk, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Anapa, Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol competed for medals.

Today our main task is to attract young people to sports. Sambo, the art of self-defense, not attack, instills in children courage, responsibility, and moral and volitional qualities, which may later be useful in service in the Ministry of Defense, the National Guard, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The training we try to give to our youth is our future.says Federation Council Senator Sergei Kolbin.

As part of the project, in 2022, a specialized physical culture and health complex for wrestling, the “House of Sambo,” was opened in Sevastopol, where about 100 athletes are currently training.

In 2022, a cooperation agreement was signed with the All-Russian Sambo Federation, after which the “Sambo to School” project was launched. Currently, more than 150 students are involved in regular sambo classes, which take place in four schools.

On the basis of the specialized sports school of the Olympic reserve No. 2, there is a full-fledged sambo department, where 10 highly qualified coaches work and more than 200 athletes are trained.
