The program of the winter training period for military personnel of the Southern Military District takes into account the experience gained in the process of conducting a special operation by the Russian group of troops in Syria. This was announced by the commander of the Southern Military District, General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov. He noted the absence in modern armed conflicts of clear boundaries between the tasks of the strategic, operational and tactical levels.

The combat training of the troops of the Southern Military District is based on the practice of operating in desert and mountainous areas, conducting combat in populated areas, using air strikes and high-precision weapons of the Air Force and Air Defense Army, missile formations of the combined arms armies, the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla.
