The tulip parade in Nikitsky Garden starts on March 27
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In 2024, more than 105 thousand bulbs of 159 varieties of tulips of foreign selection in recent years were planted in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. The main exhibition area features 151 varieties.
More than half of these varieties represent the Triumph garden class, the main one in modern gardening. These are tulips with the classic shape of large and bright flowers. Along with this classic that never goes out of fashion, varieties of “unusual tulips” are also presented in large numbers — almost 40 varieties with double flowers, more than 20 varieties with fringed flowers and 8 (more than at previous exhibitions) varieties of so-called parrot tulips with intricately curved petals. The little star of the exhibition is the dwarf variety The First, which bloomed in February and blooms luxuriantly in March — the only representative of the garden class of Kaufman tulip Hybrids at our exhibition. Two-colored, large, wide-opening flowers in sunny weather rise only slightly above the ground on short peduncles. The First is one of 36 new varieties at this year’s show. Two more interesting new items relate to the so-called crown-shaped tulips. Varieties with this original flower shape always arouse interest among exhibition visitors, and this year there are 5 of them in total (at last year’s exhibition there were only 2). The exhibition project is designed in the shape of a goldfishnotes head Laboratory of Floriculture NBS-NSC, Candidate of Biological Sciences Vera Zykova.
Let us note that directly on the day of the official opening of the Tulip Parade on March 27, a quest quiz dedicated to tulips will be held.
Children will answer questions regarding this most curious flower. The quiz will be conducted by the Garden’s leading researchers, candidates of biological sciences, and young scientists. They have already presented the Nikitsky Garden at VDNKh in a similar way this spring, and the interest was enormous. As a gift, children will receive sets of presentation postcards with views of the Nikitsky Garden, as well as fresh flowers in pots, which they can care for at home or plant them in their gardens or flower beds. We are looking forward to seeing the artists — for them, entry to the Nikitsky Garden on the opening day of the Parade is free. Our Art Gallery is always open to visitors, admission to it is free, with tickets to the Garden, says the director of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, chairman of the Union of Botanical Gardens of Russia, corresponding member. RAS Yuri Plugatar.
Also at 13:00 on March 27, a chamber “song meeting” for children and their parents with the bard Nikolai Noskov “Spring Mood” will take place on the Summer Stage. We wish everyone a unique, unforgettable and vibrant experience!”
