There are no grounds for conflicts between representatives of faiths in the Republic — Mufti of Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
I am sure that there is no basis for conflicts in Crimea. Since 1999, when he became a mufti, he became a member of the interfaith council [Крыма] “Peace is a gift of God” and then I met Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea, we formed good, close, friendly relations. We have been able to strengthen interfaith dialogue over the years, said the agency’s interlocutor. — Now a new metropolitan has been appointed in Crimea (Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea, Georgy Shevkunov — TASS note). We hope that we will continue our traditional interfaith dialogue and do everything possible to further strengthen this dialogue.
The mufti recalled that during the Ukrainian period of Crimean history, the authorities did everything to disrupt the dialogue between representatives of different faiths.
It is clear that there were a lot of people who wanted to disrupt this interfaith peace in those days. We tried to do everything possible to ensure that there was no interfaith harmony in Crimea, he noted. — We never turned away from each other and always maintained friendly relations. And in 2014, when Crimea became part of the Russian Federation, we met with the ruler again. Then we told each other with confidence that we were on the right path in that we did not disrupt the dialogue, the connection between faiths, and preserved it.
