The government of Sevastopol receives numerous complaints about the quality of communication in different parts of the city. Only recently, residents of Verkhnesadovoe, the area of ​​the Avtobat stop, members of the association of homeowners Rybak-5 and Rybak-7, and residents of Kamyshovoye Highway have dealt with such a problem.

There are problems, but this year the connection between Sevastopol residents will improve, including on Kamyshovoye Highway and Cape Fiolent. In these areas, base stations will be installed. Alexandra Osipova, director of the Department of Digital Development of Sevastopol, told about this.

Communication towers 10 have already been installed in this area, more 11 are under construction. We expect that already in the first half of the year 2023 of the year, communication will improve significantly. A new mobile operator will also begin to operate, including its base stations will be put on the air, — she noted.

According to the head of the Department, all work in Sevastopol is carried out in accordance with safety requirements. Any base station is installed taking into account engineering and hydrometeorological surveys, including assessing the quality of the soil, and determining the network development map. The levels of electromagnetic radiation are measured by Rospotrebnadzor before the base station is put into operation, and an appropriate conclusion is issued based on the results. The stability of the structure is ensured by a special foundation arrangement and appropriate weight.

The placement of base stations is determined in accordance with the network coverage map. If the base station data is shared by a residential area — high-rise buildings — then this is already an unsatisfactory communication quality. Taking into account the complexity of the terrain, as well as the low density of base stations, an active process is now underway to create a continuous network for coverage , — Alexandra Osipova emphasized.

She also spoke about the operation of the Safe City system. At the end of last year, at the request of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Sevastopol, 16 video surveillance cameras with face recognition were installed in the Artillery Bay in the area of ​​​​the hundred meters.
