When the prosecutor's office files an appeal: an ex-official from Simferopol went to a colony

The Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea considered on appeal a criminal case against the former head of the municipal government institution “Department of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Administration of the City of Simferopol of the Republic of Crimea.” She was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 2, paragraphs. “a”, “c” part 5 art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe).
The court established that the defendant, being the head of a state-owned institution, received several bribes from representatives of public sports associations in the amount of 10% of the amount of funds allocated from the budget to subsidize reimbursement of costs for planned sporting events. The amount of illegally obtained remuneration amounted to more than 2.5 million rubles,” the prosecutor’s office recalled the circumstances of the case.
Earlier, the Central District Court of Simferopol sentenced the guilty party to suspended imprisonment with a probationary period. The prosecutor’s office did not agree with the verdict and appealed it to a higher authority.
Based on the results of consideration of the appeal, the court revoked the suspended sentence and sentenced the former employee of the institution to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony— reported the supervisory agency.
The woman was fined 6 million rubles and was deprived of the right to borrow money.positions in the civil service and in local governments related to the exercise of organizational, administrative and economic powers, for a period of 7 years.
