Video intercom is a device designed to ensure the safety and comfort of both residential premises (apartments, houses) and workers (offices, etc.). Consists of two main components:

• built-in or plug-in camera, installed at the entrance, allows owners to see who is at the door. The camera transmits the video signal to an internal monitor or mobile device.
• internal monitor is located inside the home or office and allows owners to view the camera image, as well as interact with visitors through the built-in microphone and speaker. In some cases, video intercoms can also be integrated with your own CCTV system or smart home.

Several main functions of video intercoms:

• checking visitors: You can see who is at the door before you decide to open or not open it.
• safety: Video intercoms can serve as a security feature by allowing you to control access to your home or office.
• convenience: they provide comfort in communicating with visitors and, in particular, can be useful when those in the room for some reason do not have the opportunity to approach the door.
• recording: Some video intercoms are capable of recording video, which can be useful in case of incidents or for archival storage.
• integration: Many modern video doorbells can integrate with other security or smart home systems, such as lighting controls, locks, thermostats, and more, allowing you to control multiple aspects of your home through one interface.

• wired video intercoms: These devices are connected by the entrance camera and indoor monitor using wires. They provide a stable connection and generally have good video and audio quality. Wired video intercoms are usually more reliable, but their installation may require running cables.
• wireless video intercoms: Technologies such as Wi-Fi or radio are used to communicate between the camera and monitor. They usually require less time and effort to install. However, the signal may be subject to interference or loss depending on distance and obstructions.
• color and black and white video intercoms: Video intercoms can be either color or black and white. Color models provide a more informative image and can capture details better. However, black and white video doorbells can be more affordable in terms of cost and can still provide basic security and communication.
• some video intercoms may have additional functions, such as night vision for viewing in low light conditions, video recording, motion sensors, intercom and the ability to integrate with smart home systems. The choice of such additional features depends on your specific needs.
• some modern video intercoms provide mobile applicationswhich allow you to track visitors and communicate with them via a smartphone or tablet while away from home.
