1,000 applications submitted to RNKB for an educational loan with state support

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Since July, clients of RNKB Bank, a member of VTB Group, have submitted about 1,000 applications for state-supported educational loans at a reduced rate of 3%. Now every student can independently pay for their studies at any Russian university or college with a valid license and accreditation from the Russian Federation. The loan is provided within the framework of the State Program of the Russian Federation “On State Support for Educational Lending”, approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1448 dated September 15, 2020. Half of the applications for educational loans were submitted remotely on the bank’s official website. More than 60% of borrowers apply for a loan for higher education, the rest — for secondary vocational education in colleges and technical schools. The top educational institutions where RNKB clients apply for loans for training include:

  • Crimean Federal University named after V. I. Vernadsky;
  • Sevastopol State University;
  • St. Petersburg State Budgetary Professional Educational Institution «Medical College. V.M. Bekhterev»;
  • Kuban State University;
  • Kuban State Agrarian University named after I.T. Trubilin.

In two months, RNKB has already concluded more than 400 agreements for issuing educational loans in the amount of over 160 million rubles. The rate of 3% per annum is subsidized by the state, while repayment of the loan implies a grace period not only for the entire period of study, but also for the next nine months after it. During the grace period, the student may not repay the principal, but only the interest on the loan in the amount of 40% in the first year, 60% in the second year and in full from the third year.

Any student of a higher or vocational educational institution over the age of 14 who has concluded an agreement on the provision of paid educational services with an educational institution can apply for a loan. The loan amount can be from 10,000 to 5,000,000 rubles, but should not exceed the cost of education. Note that a loan can be taken to pay for any period of study (one semester, a year or the entire study) and for any form of education (full-time, part-time, part-time, including distance learning). Moreover, such a loan can be taken in any month of the year without exception.
