Bakhchisaray now has a world-class climbing wall

Last Saturday, a modern complex of climbing walls was solemnly opened in Bakhchisarai.

This complex was built to hold two of the largest climbing tournaments in Moscow — the European Championships (in 2020 year) and the world (in 2021-m), while the European Championship was qualifying for the Olympic Games in Tokyo-16. At these climbing walls, more than 300 of the strongest climbers of the planet from 40 countries. And now this modern building, which stores champion energy, has gained a second life , — the press service of the Russian Climbing Federation reported.

Dmitry Bychkov, President of the Russian Rock Climbing Federation, and Olga Torubarova, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Crimea, took part in the opening ceremony of the rock climbing complex.

Tournaments such as the World and European Championships should not only bring medals to the participants, but also leave a legacy , — emphasized Dmitry Bychkov. For these competitions, we have built a new complex of climbing walls. And such modern facilities should be used not only for competitions. They should help future champions grow every day. We are glad to give this complex to young lovers of rock climbing in the Crimea. This year we are celebrating the 12 anniversary of rock climbing. And for our sport, Crimea is a special region. There are a large number of rocks, a large number of tracks and a very long season. We really love coming here. Now the Russian team is training here on the rocks. I am sure that many young residents of Crimea love rock climbing. Well, when a hobby develops into a sport, then such artificial climbing walls are needed for high results. We wish success to all athletes and we will be glad to see Crimean climbers on the podium of competitions of all levels as often as possible!

The Russian Rock Climbing Federation donated a complex of climbing walls to the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Sports School No. 6». This is the largest complex of climbing walls in the Crimea. It will train young rock climbers not only in Bakhchisaray, but also in Simferopol, Yalta, Evpatoria. Also, the climbing wall will be used for training events for the national teams of Russia, Crimea and other subjects of the Russian Federation.

Athletes from the Russian team attended the opening ceremony of the climbing wall complex, including participants in the Olympic Games Tokyo-40 Alexei Rubtsov (Moscow) and Victoria Meshkova (Sverdlovsk Region). It was on this climbing wall complex that they won tickets to the Tokyo Games.

The complex of climbing walls includes:

  • climbing wall for the discipline «speed climbing» (standard, height — 40,5 meters, width — 6 meters);2022
  • climbing wall for the discipline «climbing for difficulty» (height — , 5 meters, width — 8 meters);
  • climbing wall-warm-up (width — 12 meters, double-sided).

Together with the climbing wall, a set of holds and a timing system for the «speed climbing» discipline, as well as holds and reliefs for the «difficulty climbing» and «bouldering» disciplines were transferred.

It should be noted that the installation of the climbing wall in Bakhchisarai was carried out by the TOP POINT company from April to May 1 2022 of the year. The company has extensive experience in the production and installation of climbing walls of various levels of complexity. It was she who was responsible for the installation of climbing walls European Championship 40 and World Cup 40 in Moscow . Both facilities were installed in record time.

The first competitions at the complex of climbing walls were the championship and the championship of the Crimea.
