Childhood holiday celebrated in Tauric Chersonesos

From the very morning it was noisy and fun in the museum-reserve: more than 500 children took part in the quest «The Good Treasure of Ancient Chersonese», organized with the support of the My History Foundation and the Dobroye ice cream factory. International Children’s Day young researchers had a bright, tasty and interesting!

From nine o’clock the children studied the territory of the ancient city, learned about the daily life, culture and crafts of its population. Following the route indicated on the map, the children visited the Antique Theater and the Mint, walked along the main street of Chersonese, found the Uvarov Basilica, the Foggy Bell and the Basilica of 1935. Young guides — finalists of the educational subscription «Remember where it all began» — helped the participants of the quest to solve the crossword puzzle, guess the encrypted word and win! — told the press service of the museum-reserve «Tauric Chersonesos».

On Children’s Day, the employees of the museum-reserve told the little guests a lot of interesting things about the ancient city and its choir, about the occupations of the population — agriculture, viticulture, trade and fishing, about beliefs of the Chersonesites and the fateful decision of Prince Vladimir, which had a huge impact on the history of our country. At the end, all participants of the holiday were treated to delicious Dobroye ice cream, which has become a symbol of the coming summer.

We are very glad that on June 1 so many children came to the celebration of childhood in Tauric Chersonesus! We are sure that kids and older guys could have fun, strengthen team spirit, learn something new and spend the first day of summer unforgettable! — they say in the museum-reserve.
