For 2 out of 10 employers in Crimea, excess weight is the reason for refusal of employment

Most employers are loyal to overweight applicants. In a survey of a service for finding high-paying jobs SuperJob Representatives of companies and economically active citizens took part.
Discrimination in employment is illegal in Russia, but employers often convey their wishes to the appearance of candidates and recruiters are forced to take them into account. However, there are unspoken barriers in conditions of personnel shortage is becoming less and less: 66% of company representatives claim that they do not pay attention to the weight of candidates. 21%, other things being equal, will hire a specialist without extra pounds. Today, 20% of job seekers in Crimea report discrimination in employment based on weight. But in the public consciousness, despite the development of body positivity, there are still few changes: 35% of city residents talk about discrimination against fat people. Women are more likely to be overweight, and men speak more often about discrimination against fat people in life and when applying for a job.,” noted the service’s press service.
The older the respondents, the more complaints they have about their own weight and the biased attitude of employers towards fat people. But respondents under 34 years of age spoke more often about discrimination against overweight citizens in society.
Most often, respondents who believe that they are overweight are more than 20 kg face weight discrimination in employment and in society.
