The Ministry of Emergency Situations issued a storm warning about dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena in Crimea on January 16. Due to the passage of a cold frontal section in the morning and afternoon of January 16, rain is expected in Crimea, with sleet in the mountains, in the central, eastern, southern regions and in the mountains very heavy precipitation. In the mountains there is accumulation of wet snow and icy conditions. During the day, the northwest wind is also expected to increase to 15-20 m/s, with gusts of up to 25 m/s on the South Coast and in the mountains. In the afternoon of January 16, a short-term rise in water levels by 0.5 -1.5 m is expected on the rivers of the northern foothills and South Coast without reaching dangerous levels.

In these conditions, there is a high probability of emergencies associated with accidents at energy facilities, housing and communal services, an increase in the number of road accidents, disruptions in transport communications, obstruction of vehicle traffic on roads, long descents and ascents, dangerous turns and mountain passes. Flooding of areas is possible.

There is a threat to the life and health of the population due to the possible fall of billboards, weakly reinforced structures, trees and possible broken power linesthe emergency department said in a statement.
