Operation “Pedestrian Crossing” on the roads of Sevastopol. Almost three dozen drivers will pay fines

The State Traffic Inspectorate of Sevastopol summed up the results of the preventive event “Pedestrian Crossing”.

Its main task is to prevent accidents involving pedestrians, promote mutual politeness among road users, and improve road safety. During Operation Pedestrian Crossing, traffic police inspectors served near busy pedestrian crossings in the city, where they paid close attention to drivers who ignored the right of pedestrians to have priority when moving along a pedestrian crossing.— specified in the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

During the raid, traffic inspectors identified 27 drivers who violated the rules for driving through a pedestrian crossing. For this violation, in accordance with Article 12.18 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, a fine of 1,500 to 2,500 rubles is provided.

As part of the event, pedestrians who violated traffic rules were also identified: three of them crossed the roadway in the wrong place. According to Part 1 of Article 12.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, the fine for this violation is 500 rubles.

It should be noted that in 2023, 182 accidents involving collisions with pedestrians occurred on the roads of the city of Sevastopol, in which 178 people received injuries of varying severity.
