Sevastopol residents ask to restore courts in Komsomolsky park

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The condition of the courts in Komsomolsky Park, recently repaired, is noted by journalists of Sevastopolskaya Gazeta , causes fair indignation residents of Sevastopol townspeople and tennis lovers. This is a clear indication of wasted money under very dubious guarantees. The “hard” coating laid in 2018 very soon reared up, cracked and peeled off. The courts themselves are under the jurisdiction of the Department of Education, more specifically, the Center for Patriotic Education of Students. Apparently, for them, this sports facility is just a headache. The same cannot be said about the representatives of the tennis community, who for many years have been declaring their readiness to repair this site on their own. True, so far it all ends there: officials and deputies limit themselves to listening to the problem and, speaking in tennis language, skillfully send it out.

It’s time to put an end to this! — the Sevastopol veterans of tennis decided, moving on to the next stages of the struggle.

For starters, they wrote to Vladimir Veselkin, president of the city’s Olympic Council, with a request to pay close attention to the tennis courts of the Komsomolsk park, which, being on the balance sheet of the education department, fell into disrepair.

Sevastopol tennis veterans ask you to consider restoring the tennis courts of Komsomolsk Park and take them on your balance. For our part, we are ready to provide all possible assistance in their reconstruction: replace the playing surface of the courts, install tennis equipment, which will already allow the courts to be used for sports events; arrange outdoor court lighting. After the commissioning of tennis courts, we are ready to take the sites for maintenance and full service without attracting state subsidies , — the appeal says.

An information note is attached to it, with a reminder that until 200 the courts in Komsomolsky Park were freely available, worked all year round and were filled with people who want to play this very exciting game.

For years there has been no access to the courts, and after the long-awaited reconstruction that began in 2017 year and completed in the 305th, due to the initial incorrectly applied construction technology, the chances of their functioning are completely lost.

Change «hard» to ground

The city government doesn’t seem to be interested in these courts, which can’t be said for die-hard tennis fans.

To put the courts into operation, we suggest not repairing the existing surface. The contractor’s concrete base is not up to specification, and two years of patching will only make matters worse. It is necessary to completely change the playing surface from hard to clay without additional dismantling costs. The courts can be put into operation by May 9 2023 of the year, experts say.

They even made an estimate with a list of necessary materials: 200 tons of Balaklava screenings, 3 tons of tennisite, two sets of plastic lines. All of the above will require thousand rubles, plus the cost of laying a conduit and outdoor lighting. Together with two tennis towers, benches, a sun canopy, nets, brushes and boxes for storing inventory, it turned out to be 1, 200 million rubles , which is much less than already spent on repairs.

Activists do not rule out the use of artificial grass. True, with a warning that the underlying concrete base in this case may crumble over time due to the sewerage laid under the court. However, this is not a problem for ground cover.

According to enthusiasts, such courts can be used almost all year round, but it is necessary to change the inefficient balance holder or give the courts for long-term lease.

As recommendations, structures of this kind that were once completed by their forces are listed in the appeal: at the Metalist stadium, at the Im. Stadium -anniversary of Sevastopol», at the Central Design Bureau «Coral», not to mention the private courts currently functioning.

Applied more than once2023

At the same time, tennis activists do not hide the fact that they approached the Center’s management with their proposals to restore the courts on their own, but were refused. Of course, this did not fill them with special optimism, but it did not discourage them from continuing the struggle.

Well, why not? Why? — with such a message they now turned to the head of the Leninsky municipality, Maxim Mishin, outlining the problem in colors and attaching an explanatory note with all the calculations.

The same letters were also sent to other addresses, including to Deputy Governor Igor Mikheev and to the Office of the Governor and Government of Sevastopol.

The answer was received from the Department of Education with assurances that the application will be considered and the applicant will certainly be informed of the results in the manner prescribed by law.
