Two Crimean trees were given the status of natural monuments

The status of monuments of wildlife in Crimea was given to — Small-fruited Strawberry (located in the city of Yalta, the village of Oreanda, on the territory of Mount Ai-Nikola) and English Oak (located in the city of Simferopol, on the territory of the Botanical Garden named after N.V. Bagrov KFU named after V. I. Vernadsky). The decision to include in the register was made by the Certification Commission of the All-Russian program «Trees — Monuments of Wildlife».

The All-Russian program «Trees — monuments of wildlife» was established in 2010 by the Committees of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Russian Federation. The purpose of the program is to search for and preserve unique old-growth trees that are of natural, cultural and historical value for Russia, giving them the status of natural objects protected by the state, the formation of the National Register of Old-growth Trees in Russia, environmental and patriotic education of the younger generation , — noted in the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Crimea.

Within the framework of the meeting of the program committee of the All-Russian program «Trees — monuments of wildlife», the members of the certification commission were presented with a list including 57 applicants for the title of trees – wildlife monuments of all-Russian significance from regions of Russia. By open voting, all applicants were approved in a new high status. Now on the territory of the Russian Federation it has become 273 official trees — monuments of wildlife.

The Ministry of Natural Resources of Crimea reminds residents and guests of the peninsula of the importance of protecting trees, as they are the green lungs of the planet.
