«Walks around Chersonese» — an excursion for strong people around the museum-reserve
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Recently, the museum-reserve was visited by participants of the project «School of Rehabilitation — New Opportunities», implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund. The guests came to get acquainted with the centuries-old history of Tauric Chersonesos and see its iconic sights.
During the walk, the guide Melissa Sus spoke about the creation of the first Greek settlement on the territory, about its transformation into an independent city-state, about the life and occupations of its citizens. The guests learned that Tauric Chersonesos existed for about two thousand years, was under the influence of the Roman Empire and Byzantium for a long time, fell into disrepair in the 13th-14th centuries due to nomad raids and was revived in the 19th century as a monument of archeology.— noted in the press service of the museum-reserve «Tauric Chersonesos».
The visitors heard about the fortifications, political structure, military affairs, culture and traditions of the ancient city. They saw the layout of the Oath of Chersonese Citizens, the Antique Theatre, the Mint, the Foggy Bell and other sights of the museum-reserve. Laid wooden decks, which allow you to safely and comfortably move along the route, and convenient viewing platforms that offer a beautiful view of the sights, made the acquaintance of guests with the city of two millennia even more comfortable.
We hope that, despite the hot weather, the participants of the project «School of Rehabilitation — New Opportunities» touched the history of Tauric Chersonesos, learned a lot of interesting things for themselves, had a great time and received a charge of positive emotions. Come again, we’d love to meet you! — they emphasize in «Chersonese Tauride».
