A 71-year-old resident of Gurzuf was “conned” out of a hundred thousand by cunning “auto parts sellers”

CrimeaPRESS reports:

How to avoid falling into the web of scammers — advice from a victim.

A 71-year-old resident of Gurzuf contacted the Yalta police. The man reported that unknown persons deceived him and stole about 100,000 rubles.

The police found out that the victim was looking for spare parts for his car on the Internet. On one of the trading platforms I saw a message about the sale of suitable auto parts. Having called the specified number, the man agreed on a transaction, after which the seller sent him details for payment for the goods by email. The applicant transferred 50 thousand rubles to a stranger through his personal Internet banking account.

Continuing the search for rare spare parts for his vehicle, the applicant again turned to the Internet and repeated his actions. Having followed the instructions of the false seller, he transferred another 50 thousand rubles in two transactions to someone else’s bank card. The man, thinking that he had made a profitable purchase by paying in advance the cost of the ordered goods, did not receive the paid spare parts. The authors of the advertisements did not contact us — the telephone numbers indicated in the advertisements became unavailable. When the man realized that he had been deceived, he reported the incident to the police.— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

The investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Yalta initiated criminal cases based on crimes under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud”), which provides for up to 5 years in prison.

Investigators are identifying those involved in committing illegal actions.

The victim made certain conclusions and shared them. He urges citizens to be vigilant when purchasing goods on the Internet. Check the accuracy of the published information, do not follow instructions from strangers and do not transfer payment before receiving the goods.
