A collection of household and kitchen utensils of Belarusians of the first half of the 20th century was presented in Crimea

The Crimean Ethnographic Museum hosted a presentation of a collection of Belarusian household and kitchen utensils of the first half of the 20th century, donated to funds as part of the Days of Belarusian Culture in Crimea by the Public Organization “Regional National Cultural Autonomy of Belarusians of the Republic of Crimea “Belarusians of Crimea”. For the first time in the history of the museum, the collection received at the same time 10 exhibits reflecting the life of Belarusians.

The presentation was held by the director of the museum, Yuri Laptev, who spoke about the history of the creation of the Crimean Ethnographic Museum and the formation of the exposition, and also noted the importance of replenishing the museum’s collection with new unique exhibits. Yuri Laptev recalled the process of re-exposition of the East Slavic complex and thanked Roman Chegrinets, chairman of the autonomy «Belarusians of Crimea» for his assistance in continuing the formation of the Belarusian collection of the ethnographic museum.

Roman Chegrinets spoke about the difficult journey of the collection to the Crimea and thanked the FNCA “Belarusians of Russia” for transferring the collection to the Crimean museum, expressed gratitude to the Crimean Ethnographic Museum for studying the collection and demonstrating it to a wide range of visitors.

Anastasia Gridchina, Chairman of the Commission on Interethnic Relations of the Civic Chamber of the Republic of Crimea, congratulated all those present on this important event for the Belarusian community of Crimea.

A resident of Alushta, a master of straw weaving Svetlana Bogdanovich presented the traditional old East Slavic amulet — «spider», noting its importance in folk culture.

At the end of the event, the methodologist of the Crimean Ethnographic Museum Maria Puzdrovskaya presented a donated collection consisting of household and kitchen utensils, various tools, tools and containers used both in the economic and professional activities of Belarusians.
