A resident of Sevastopol was convicted of inciting hatred and hostility on social networks.

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Employees of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol, while monitoring messengers and the Internet, drew attention to the comments of one of the users on an online publication on a social network.

It was previously established that the commentator’s statements contained signs of humiliation of human dignity based on nationality and territory of residence. The texts of the provocative comments were sent for research to the ECC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for linguistic examination. The result of the study confirmed that statements humiliate human dignity and incite hostile actions based on nationality— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

During operational search activities, police officers identified the author of the comments. He turned out to be a 56-year-old local resident. He admitted to the offense.

Based on the materials collected by the police regarding him, employees of the Nakhimovsky District Prosecutor’s Office compiled administrative material under Art. 20.3.1 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (“Inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity”).

By decision of the court, the offender was sentenced to an administrative fine in the amount of 10 thousand rubles.
