Center for Outpatient Cancer Care opened in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The new Center for Outpatient Cancer Care has been launched on the basis of the city hospital No. 1 on Admiral Oktyabrsky Street, B. It was launched as part of a regional project «Fight against oncological diseases» of the national project «Health». This subdivision, first of all, will ensure the implementation of a complex of diagnostic and therapeutic measures, if a general practitioner or any other specialist suspects an oncological disease in a patient at an appointment at a polyclinic at the place of residence.

Here, the primary admission of patients with suspected oncopathology and dispensary observation of patients who have already been diagnosed and who have already received a certain amount of therapy is carried out: surgical interventions or radiation therapy, or there was a course of chemotherapy and the patient is observed dynamically , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Vladimir Kuznetsov, deputy chief physician of the city hospital No. 1 for the surgical part.

At the Outpatient Cancer Care Center, specialists diagnose and determine the stages of oncological diseases, provide primary health care to adult patients with both confirmed and suspected oncology. Currently, there are three oncologists and medical staff who have undergone special training.

The center performs all the functions of a polyclinic and part of the functions of an oncology dispensary — this is done for convenience and timely medical care to people, including residents of remote areas of the city. Last week, we already completed the first course of chemotherapy , says Evgeny Andriyashin, head of the Center for Outpatient Cancer Care, oncologist.

To get a referral to the CAOP, the patient first goes through an oncology consultation at the oncology dispensary, where a treatment plan is determined and a regimen is recommended.

A patient comes to us with recommendations, and we can give him chemotherapy according to all standards. We have some of the chemotherapy drugs in stock, some are being purchased , — emphasizes Evgeny Andriyashin.

If, as a result of the examination, the suspicion of an oncological disease is not confirmed, the patient receives a schedule for further observation at the polyclinic at the place of residence. In other cases, he is sent to an oncology dispensary for special treatment.

Doctors note that the center has six day hospital beds where patients can receive chemotherapy. A special laminar cabinet was also purchased, which is designed to dilute chemotherapy drugs without danger to medical personnel.

A laminar flow hood, unlike a conventional fume hood, has a different direction of flow — down, not up, and has built-in geofilters, respectively, there is no need to connect it to general ventilation, that is, neither outside nor inside the room. toxic substances are not thrown out , — said the head of the center.

Medical care provided at the Center for Outpatient Cancer Care will be more accessible to all patients attached to the polyclinics of the city hospital No. 1.
