In Sevastopol — the action «Learn to swim»

CrimeaPRESS reports:

From July 7 to August 3, Sevastopol hosts a city-wide action «Learn to swim.» Its goal is to popularize swimming as a component of a healthy lifestyle and an effective way of hardening, as well as to teach children and adolescents aged 6 to 14 the basic skills of swimming. Classes are held daily, except Monday, from 09:00 to 13:00 on three beaches of the city: Omega, Solnechny (Anna Akhmatova Park) and Uchkuevka.

This year, the Learn to Swim campaign is being held for the third time. The idea of holding the action was born in 2021 and was supported by Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev. This is a highly sought-after event, giving participants primary swimming skills. On the first day of the campaign, out of 500 places, 320 have already been taken. Groups on the Omega beach are fully staffed, recruitment continues at other locations. For those who haven’t signed up yet, welcome.— the press service of the Government of Sevatsopol quotes the head of the department for youth and sports, Sergei Reznichenko.

Eight groups are formed at each of the three locations. The duration of the lesson for one group is 45 minutes, before each lesson there is a safety briefing on the water.

Two instructors work with each group — these are professional swimming coaches from the sports school of the Olympic reserve No. 1 and the sports school of CSKA.

One training cycle consists of six lessons. The number of people involved in the group is up to eight people for children aged 6 to 12 years old, for teenagers from 12 to 14 years old — up to ten people. Every sixth lesson is a control. Children swim as much as they can, and the instructor evaluates the swimming technique.
