KFU develops new methods of treating patients with socially significant diseases

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Scientists of the Medical Academy of the Crimean Federal University are developing new methods for early diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with socially significant diseases such as diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, coronary heart disease, as well as cancer, diseases of the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system.

We conduct research aimed at the application of new methods and technologies of treatment. So, for example, in the course of studies on the damage to the cardiovascular system in patients with type II diabetes, we examined more than 200 patients, as well as a control group of 30 healthy volunteers. We also monitored some inflammatory molecular markers of a complicated reparative process in the local treatment of diabetic foot syndrome in 70 patients in two groups. Our technique, which includes the use of silver sulfathiazole, has been shown to be more effective than standard therapy. The inclusion of silver sulfathiazole helped to accelerate the recovery of patients and reduce the cost of their treatment., — the press service of the university quotes the director of the Institute «Medical Academy. S. I. Georgievsky «KFU named after. V. I. Vernadsky Evgeny Krutikov.

According to him, an equally important direction for Crimea is rehabilitation. Thus, the methods developed by specialists of the Crimean Federal University are already being widely implemented in medical institutions of the peninsula of the second and third levels, as well as sanatoriums located on the southern coast of Crimea, in Saki, Evpatoria and other cities.

Our peninsula is recognized as a territory where innovative rehabilitation methods should be developed both at the stage of sanatorium treatment, and at the stages of outpatient and inpatient care.— says Evgeny Krutikov.

The project was implemented as part of the program of strategic academic leadership «Priority 2030». Within the framework of the project, the scientists of the Medical Academy published 25 scientific articles in the rating journals included in the RSCI, defended four Ph.D.
