At a staff meeting in the Government of Sevastopol today, the issue of ensuring road safety for children was discussed on the eve of the start of the new school year.
On the eve of the school year, Sevavtodor and the Directorate for the Development of Road Transport Infrastructure annually hold events near educational institutions of preschool, primary, secondary and higher vocational education aimed at ensuring the safety of children’s participation in road traffic. In particular, an additional artificial road, outdoor signs, a pedestrian fence were installed, markings were updated, vegetation was trimmed to ensure the visibility of pedestrians and road signs., — quotes the press service of the Government of Sevastopol and. Before September 1, the Sevavtodor enterprise planned to restore the markings at 329 pedestrian crossings. To date, 312 have already been restored, of which 59 have been covered with cold plastic.
Starting from August, Sevavtodor has been cleaning and updating the markings using special chemicals. 794 km of linear markings have already been updated, 266 markings have been applied, duplicating images of the road sign «Children» and similar inscriptions, emphasizes i. O. department director.
In addition, ten new autonomous traffic lights have been installed at five pedestrian crossings near educational institutions, and the construction of three elevated pedestrian crossings on the Kamysh Highway is underway. One of them is located near the Ecotech + school, commissioning is scheduled for December this year. Commission surveys of school bus routes were also carried out.
In the period from July 16 to July 26, together with the Department of Transport and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, surveys were carried out on all routes of school buses. Stanislav Tamataev stressed that all comments were taken into account and corrected, and the buses are ready for transportation.
All the comments that were given to the representatives of the commission regarding the quality of marking, cutting vegetation, restoring signs, have already been eliminated for the most part. All 54 school buses passed timely state technical inspections and are ready for work— said Stanislav Tamataev.
In addition, carriers were required to check for available up-to-date timetables, update or restore them if necessary.
