The Department of Municipal Economy of Sevastopol owes 70 thousand rubles to a child who was bitten by a dog

The Sevastopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office conducted an inspection based on information provided by health care institutions about people admitted to the emergency department with bites from stray animals.

It was established that in March 2023, near a food store on the street. Ligovskoy in Sevastopol, an 11-year-old girl was attacked by a stray dog ​​and bitten on the hand for no reason. Due to the injury, the girl received medical assistance. To undergo vaccination, after receiving a bite wound, the child was hospitalized. The dog was not caught and still appears in the same area,” reported the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.

Based on the results of the inspection, the environmental prosecutor’s office filed a claim with the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol seeking compensation for moral damages in the amount of 70 thousand rubles from the Department of Municipal Economy of the city of Sevastopol in favor of a minor child who was injured as a result of a dog attack.

The prosecutor’s claim was satisfied.

It should be noted that in accordance with the requirements of federal legislation executive authorities of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation have been given the authority to organize measures for the treatment of animals without owners. In Sevastopol, these responsibilities are assigned to Department of Municipal Economy and its subordinate State Budgetary Institution “Parks and Public Gardens”. Currently, the bailiff service is executing a court decision that has entered into legal force on the claim of the prosecutor’s office, according to which the Department and the specified institution must organize the capture, treatment, vaccination and sterilization of stray animals in Sevastopol. However, the shelter has not yet been created.
