The regional championship for professional skills among disabled people and people with disabilities “Abilimpix” of the presidential platform “Russia – the Land of Opportunities” started in Sevastopol.

The following categories will take part in the regional stage competitions in Sevastopol:

  • “schoolchildren” – 16 people;

Competitive tests will be held in 13 competencies: adaptive physical education, painting, medical and social care, word processing, poster design, fine arts, landscape design, massage therapists, beadwork, confectionery, cooking, preschool education, psychology. 75 experts will evaluate the work of the contestants.

The main task of Abilympix is employment, career guidance, and socialization of people with disabilities. This year the Abilympics movement in Russia turns 10 years old; the regional championships in 2024 should become not just competitions, but a sought-after discussion platform where they will discuss current issues of vocational training for people with disabilities and limited health capabilities, a platform for testing new inclusive practices, professional orientation and employment, as well as a volunteer platform for the formation of a tolerant, inclusive environment. The competition tasks of the championship have been updated jointly with employers in the region in order to expand employment opportunities for participants and allow them to master new types of professional activities in the regions. I wish all championship participants new victories and achievements! – notes the director of the department of state policy in the field of secondary vocational education and vocational training of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Viktor Neumyvakin.

Over the past 10 years, the Abilympics movement in Russia has become the largest and most recognizable in the field of developing professional skills among people with disabilities and limited health, and all participants have become one big Abilympics family.

Sevastopol has been actively participating in the Abilympics Championship since 2018. During this time, about 400 Sevastopol residents with disabilities demonstrated their skills in competitive tests. This speaks to the relevance of the championship movement and the opportunities for personal and professional growth for the guys. For many, the championship is a challenge to oneself, an opportunity to show one’s skills and learn from the best. The championship movement in Sevastopol is developing. This year, the list of competencies at the regional stage includes new areas: confectionery for schoolchildren, confectionery and beadwork for students. The Abilympics Championship proves that Russia is a country of opportunities for everyone, the main thing is desire and an active life position, says I. O. Director of the Department of Education and Science of Sevastopol Maxim Krivonos.

For the first time this year, two festivals will be held as part of the competitive program of the regional professional skills championship “Abilimpix”: the “Festival of Opportunities” for participants from 14 years old on the site of comprehensive boarding school No. 1 and the festival “Getting to Know the Profession”, in which children will take part preschool age and students in grades 1–6, the main site is kindergarten No. 131. The winner of the 2018 Abilympics national championship in the “specialists” category in the “Psychology” competency, Elena Ermolaeva, gave parting words to this year’s participants.

“Abilimpix” means opportunities, communication, and fortitude. “Abilimpix” provides a unique opportunity to express yourself, show your skills and abilities, and also gain invaluable experience, which is so important for personality development and self-development. I have my own special path in this competition. In 2018, I took part in the “Entrepreneurship” competency among specialists and took first place and received a gold medal. I had a unique opportunity to try my hand at the national All-Russian championship in Moscow. When I flew to Moscow, I was 100% sure that I was flying for victory, and I brought a gold medal to Sevastopol. My journey continued further. In 2019, I took part in the “Psychology” competency among specialists, took third place and received a bronze medal. It was very pleasant that at this competition I met many kind and talented people. This year I am already in the “expert” competition, and I evaluate entrepreneurial specialists. I want to say that when new ideas to improve our lives appear in our heads, fear is always somewhere nearby. And we begin to come up with various obstacles and excuses so as not to go towards what we want. If new ideas appear in your head, then there will always be new opportunities. The most important thing is to act. Abilympics is a competition of the strongest. I wish you the best of luck in achieving your goals. Be healthy, be happy, be loved! — Elena Ermolaeva emphasizes.

The winners of the regional stage will participate in the qualifying rounds, followed by participation in the Abilympics national championship, which will traditionally be held in Moscow in October of this year.
