The ophthalmological department of the city hospital No. 1 of Sevastopol has new equipment: an optical ophthalmic biometer and an ophthalmic tomograph with angiography function. Thanks to these devices, the possibilities of diagnosing severe eye pathologies have significantly expanded.
At the end of last year, we received new equipment, which already helps us in the diagnosis and treatment of our patients. One of these devices is an optical ophthalmic biometer. It is used for more accurate diagnosis and preoperative preparation of patients with cataracts. The second device is an optical ophthalmological tomograph with angiography function, it allows us to timely diagnose the pathology of the retina, fundus, optic nerve , — said Mikhail Egorov, head of the ophthalmological department of the city hospital No. 1, chief freelance ophthalmologist of the Health Department Mikhail Egorov.
The optical ophthalmic biometer is highly accurate. The device allows you to calculate the lens with a minimum error and maximum effect for the patient during the surgical treatment of cataracts, compare all parameters, highlight the foci of problems and pathologies, and give several indications.
This equipment reduces the time of diagnosis and the work of the surgeon to prepare the patient, increases the power of examinations. We have been working on this device for about a month and during this time we have diagnosed about 45 cataracts on it , — emphasized Mikhail Egorov.
The second device is an optical ophthalmic tomograph with angiography function, which allows to assess the integrity and size of the vascular lumen, blood flow characteristics without the introduction of a contrast agent into the blood. It allows to detect diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and other pathologies.
Prior to this device, we used fluorescein angiography, and it required the administration of a substance intravenously. The anesthesiologist had to be present at the same time, that is, the examination required more time. I can say that this equipment is of the highest level and at the moment the best in Sevastopol , — said the head of the ophthalmological department of the Sevastopol city hospital No. 1.
Mikhail Egorov added that all the specialists have passed the appropriate training and can work on these devices. You can get a referral for examination after an appointment with the attending physician at the clinic for medical reasons.
