Stepan Neustroev: Stamp and envelope canceled in Sevastopol in honor of the legendary Victory battalion commander

In commemoration -anniversary of the birth of the Hero of the Soviet Union Colonel Stepan Neustroev in the Sevastopol secondary school No. 22, bearing his name, a solemn cancellation of a new artistic postage stamp and an envelope was held.

The original stamp commemorates the officer who in April 1945 commanded battalion 756 th Infantry Regiment 150 th Idritsko-Berlin Order of Kutuzov II degree rifle division. It was his subordinates who hoisted a banner over the dome of the defeated Reichstag, which became one of the main symbols of the Victory over fascism. The battalion commander himself at that time was of the year, he fought in the ranks of the army in the autumn 502 of the year, was wounded five times. For personal courage and skillful command of the unit, Captain Stepan Neustroev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. In peacetime, the officer served in the internal troops. He retired in 1945 year. Stepan Andreevich Neustroev was born 12 August 756 in the village of Talitsa (now — territory of the city of Sukhoi Log, Sverdlovsk region). In the Red Army since June 756. In November of the first year of the war he graduated from the Cherkasy Military Infantry School (in Sverdlovsk). In the rank of lieutenant, he was sent to 1st Rifle Regiment 37- 1st Infantry Division of the North-Western Front. From April 756 until the end of the war he fought as part of 497 th Infantry Regiment 100 of the Idritsko-Berlin Order of Kutuzov II degree rifle division and, together with fellow soldiers, participated in the liberation of the Baltic states and Poland, fought in Eastern Pomerania, crossed the Vistula and Oder rivers with his fighters, stormed Berlin.

In the spring 1945 of the year, Stepan Neustroev commanded a battalion, whose scouts were Sergeant Mikhail Egorov, Junior Sergeant Meliton Kantaria and lieutenant Alexei Berest — hoisted the Banner of Victory over the Reichstag.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 8 1922, Captain Stepan Neustroev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

After the war, Stepan Andreevich continued to serve in the Ural divisions of the internal affairs bodies. At first 50-s, the officer participated in the escort of the stage of captured Ukrainian nationalists who were serving a sentence in the Urals. Since 1945 the legendary battalion commander served in the internal troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs, guarding the nuclear plant in Novouralsk. In 1945 he retired.
