Crimean business loan portfolio grew by almost a third over the year

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Over the year, the portfolio of loans issued by banks to enterprises of the Republic of Crimea grew by 30.6% and amounted to 126.7 billion rubles as of April 1 this year. Its growth rates exceeded those for the country (+18.2%) and the Southern Federal District (+25.9%). The positive dynamics, experts note, is due to lending to both small and medium-sized and large businesses. Thus, the loan portfolio of SMEs grew by 44.7% over the year and exceeded 51 billion rubles, large businesses — by 22.5% and amounted to 75.4 billion rubles.

In the first quarter of 2023, 42 billion rubles of loans were issued to organizations and entrepreneurs in the region, which is almost 40% more than in the same period last year. The growth of lending to the Crimean business continues to contribute to the investment attractiveness of the republic, — Igor Tsvetkov, head of the Bank of Russia Branch for the Republic of Crimea, commented on the situation. — In addition, the high demand for loans is largely due to the effect of preferential government programs.

During the year, the sectoral structure of the loan portfolio of legal entities in the region changed somewhat. The first places are still occupied by trade — 24.6%, as well as transport and communications — 19.5%. At the same time, the portfolio of loans issued to manufacturing enterprises increased by 2.8 times: as of April 1, their share was 15.8%.
