Documentary film festival announced in Crimea
In the Republic of Crimea, from May 16 to May 19, the VI Crimean Documentary Film Festival «KrymDoc» will be held. In Simferopol, on the site of RIA Novosti Crimea took place
At the event, the speakers spoke about the project, program, topics of documentaries, criteria for selecting the best works, and the activities of the jury.
This year, about 200 films were sent to the competition, created at studios in different regions of Russia and neighboring countries. The selection commission selected 10 films for the competition program in the nomination «Crimea on the documentary screen», of which 3 films were shot by Crimean directors.
The nomination «Crimean premieres of documentary films» included 46 films, including films by directors from the Republic of Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
Eight films will also be presented in the Debut nomination — the work of children’s studios, students of VGIK, the St. Petersburg State Institute of Film and Television, GITR and the Higher Directing Courses. For the first time included in the competition and almanac of popular science films created by students.
The program is quite diverse: military films, films about remarkable contemporaries, culture and history of our country, events in the Donbass, and much more. Each viewer will find something interesting and necessary for themselves.
Another feature of the festival is that a competition for the best video review of the film has been established for the audience.
Film screenings will be held in Simferopol at the Berg shopping center on May 16-18, and cinema platforms will operate in Evpatoria, Yalta, Simferopol and Krasnogvardeisky districts so that as many viewers as possible can watch festival films. Entry to the sessions is free.
The out-of-competition program of the festival «Echo» is scheduled to be shown in the regions of Crimea until the end of 2023.
REFERENCE. The Crimean Open Documentary Film Festival «KrymDoc» has been held in the republic since 2018.
Objective of the project — popularization and promotion in the Republic of Crimea documentary toino, including regionalas an effective factor in enhancing the role of domestic non-fiction films in the development of multicultural ties.
The founder of the film festival is the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea, the organizer is the Crimean Film and Media Center.
Over the years of its existence, filmmakers from Armenia, Belarus, France, Bulgaria, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, New Zealand, USA, Great Britain, China, etc. have sent their works to the competition.
The competition program of the festival consists of three categories:
- «Crimea on the Documentary Screen» — documentary and television films about Crimea, created in Russia and foreign countries (of any duration, except for ultra-short ones (less than 7 minutes), the main themes of film works are history, culture, personalities, events;
- “Crimean premieres of documentary films — documentaries created in the Russian Federation and abroad (of any duration, except for ultra-short ones (less than 7 minutes);
- “Debuts” are documentaries (of any duration) created by students of youth video studios, students of specialized universities and individual filmmakers.
