Employees of the Yalta police in «hot pursuit» detained a suspect in theft

A 49-year-old local resident turned to the duty unit of the city department of the Yalta police. The applicant reported that her bag containing her mobile phone and bank cards had been stolen. The total amount of damage caused to the victim was about 22 thousand rubles.

As a result of operational-search activities, the detectives of the criminal investigation department identified the attacker and detained him in hot pursuit. It turned out that the theft of property was committed by a 34-year-old resident of Yalta with no previous convictions. After interrogating the suspect, the police found out the circumstances of the incident. As it became known, the victim briefly left the bag unattended. At that moment, an intruder passed by, who took advantage of the situation, inconspicuously grabbed someone else’s property and immediately disappeared.— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.

Police officers found and seized the stolen mobile phone, the attacker got rid of the bag and bank cards.

The police also established the involvement of the detainee in another case of theft of personal property. The victim was a friend of the suspect. The day before, a 25-year-old local resident met the intruder and invited her to visit. The suspect noticed a seemingly expensive phone in one of the rooms and discreetly took it for himself, intending to sell it. The amount of damage amounted to about 15 thousand rubles. In the future, the attacker threw away someone else’s property, since he could not sell it.

According to the identified episodes of illegal activity, confessions were received from the attacker.

The investigator of OP No. 3 «Massandrovsky» of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Yalta initiated criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years. The attacker was detained in accordance with Art. 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation (on suspicion of committing a crime).
