In Crimea, the perpetrator of a fatal accident received five and a half years in prison

In Crimea, the Leninsky District Court delivered a verdict in a criminal case against a 47-year-old local resident. He was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph «a» part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation by a person driving a car and being in a state of intoxication of the rules of the road, negligently resulting in the death of a person).
The court established that in August 2022, the defendant, driving a TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 300 car while intoxicated, was moving along the Salt-Batalnoe-Erofeevo highway. Exceeding the permitted speed of movement, the man, in the process of passing the rounding of the carriageway, allowed the vehicle to leave the oncoming lane, and then the roadside, where he collided with the FORD FUSION car. As a result of a traffic accident, the driver of the FORD FUSION died on the spot, and his passenger was injured, causing serious bodily harm.— said the details in the prosecutor’s office.
The court, agreeing with the position of the public prosecutor, sentenced the man to 5 years and 6 months in prison to be served in a colony-settlement. The convict is deprived of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for a period of 2 years and 6 months.
The verdict did not enter into force. The indictment in the criminal case was approved by the Crimean prosecutor’s office.
