In Yalta, a “very nervous” driver transported marijuana in his car

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Yalta, the police received operational information about the possible involvement of a 44-year-old local resident in activities related to drug trafficking. As a result of the search activities, the information was confirmed. The car of the suspect was stopped on one of the city streets. The driver behaved suspiciously, was visibly nervous and could not speak clearly. When examining the suspect’s car, 23 bags with a gray-green vegetable matter, a mobile phone, electronic scales and packaging material were found and seized.

During a conversation with the police, the attacker said that the substance found in his car was a plant-derived drug obtained from a hemp bush and packaged in doses for the purpose of further sale. Investigators found that the suspect had previously been prosecuted for a crime in the field of drug trafficking.

The seized material was sent to the police for analysis. According to the expert opinion, the samples provided are the narcotic drug cannabis (marijuana), weighing 42.4 grams— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.

The investigator of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Yalta initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 3 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted illegal production, sale or shipment of narcotic drugs in a significant amount). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 8 to 15 years.
