The Year of the Teacher and Mentor was solemnly opened at the Artek International Children's Center

On March 3, the grand opening of the Year of the Teacher and Mentor took place on the school square of the Artek International Children’s Center.

Addressing the ceremony participants, Natalia Naumova said: “2023 is a special year, because being a teacher is a calling. It is impossible to be a teacher otherwise. Do you know what the charm and greatness of this year is? The fact that in the heart of each of you there is a teacher who showed what you could not do; a teacher who supported when you wanted to ask a question and hesitated; the teacher who inspired; a teacher who opened up prospects for you. These are teachers, and mentors, and coaches of sports schools, and teachers of secondary education, and the team of counselors, which today also opens up opportunities for you. Natalia Naumova congratulated the participants of the event and teachers from all regions of the country on the Year of the Teacher and Mentor, and also addressed her words to young Artek residents:

Our President in this year’s Address said that our victories mean new schools, new gardens, new scientific discoveries. And every teacher in his heart knows that our victories are your victories, these are the realization of your dreams, these are your new opportunities, new friends, new perspectives. Speaking about the role of a teacher in modern society, Konstantin Fedorenko noted that it is a talented teacher, an experienced mentor who opens the way for children to knowledge and development, achievements and discoveries, and looks for the grain of talent in each of his pupils:

Dear teachers, I sincerely congratulate you on the start of the Year of Teacher and Mentor. The President of the country said that this year is yours! Believe that we can’t do it without you, so we have a lot of work to do. We have to change the attitude towards the teacher, first of all, of the parent community, so that they remember how their parents once treated teachers.

And the director of Artek wished the pupils of the children’s center never to offend teachers and to thank them every day for every lesson. He expressed confidence that the year 2023 at Artek will be held under a bright motto: teach, inspire, develop!

To commemorate this significant event for the whole country, more than a thousand Artek residents, together with members of the TODES dance studio, united in a dance to the song “I thank my teachers.”

After the end of the solemn ceremony, school teachers with honorary titles, winners and prize-winners of professional All-Russian competitions held more than 20 educational master classes for their pupils. In addition, in the “children-to-children” format, lessons were held by students of the permanent contingent of the secondary school of the FSBEI “ICC “Artek”.

According to Artek school teachers, the Year of the Teacher and Mentor is a time of new opportunities: professional development, self-knowledge, expanding the range of interests, meeting new practitioners and colleagues from other regions.

Schoolchildren are sure that they will have one more reason to thank their teachers.

On the eve of the event and in commemoration of the start of a significant year for the country, Artek workers of the second shift “Mysteries of Bookbindings” held an all-Artek action. More than 1000 children and counselors from all over Russia created the emblem of the Year of the Teacher and Mentor — the silhouette of a pelican and the number 2023. The size of the picture is 60 by 30 meters (1800 m2).
