Colony-settlement and confiscation of a car for re-driving it while drunk — a sentence to a resident of the Bakhchisaray district
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Six months and fifteen days in a colony-settlement, confiscation of a vehicle and deprivation of the right to drive vehicles — this is the sentence of the Bakhchisarai District Court of the Republic of Crimea to a resident of the Bakhchisarai District for repeated driving while intoxicated.
When considering a criminal case, it was established that in February of this year a local resident, born in 1985, was driving a car while intoxicated, while already being repeatedly convicted of similar crimes. Having the «experience» of bringing to criminal responsibility for driving while intoxicated, the man did not draw the necessary conclusions for himself and got behind the wheel drunk again. As the defendant himself explained, on February 23 early in the morning he drank alcohol, a few hours later he bought a VAZ 21074 car and, being intoxicated, drove the purchased car to a neighboring settlement. At about 5 p.m., the car was stopped by the traffic police and during the conversation, the traffic police inspector revealed signs of intoxication in the driver. The man refused a medical examination, as he understood that the result would be positive— noted in the press service of the court.
At the hearing, the defendant agreed with the accusation and fully admitted his guilt.
Based on the evidence collected and examined at the hearing, the court concluded that the defendant was guilty and that his actions were qualified under Part 1 of Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation as driving while intoxicated by a person with a criminal record.
The verdict has not entered into force.
