Crimean spring: nine years at home! Simferopol celebrates the ninth anniversary of the Referendum
Today in all cities of the peninsula there are festive events dedicated to the 9th anniversary of the Crimean spring. Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov took part in a flower-laying ceremony at the monument to the «People’s Militia of All Times» in Simferopol as part of the celebrations dedicated to the ninth anniversary of the 2014 All-Crimean referendum and the reunification of Crimea with Russia.
Sergey Aksyonov congratulated the Crimeans on the ninth anniversary of the All-Crimean referendum and noted that the Crimeans would repeat their decision even after nine years of sanctions and restrictions.
The high confidence of our citizens in the President and the very fact of returning to their native harbor is proof that the choice made in 2014 was the only right one. At one time, Crimea coped, despite the fact that the whole world opposed our decision. We were deprived of resources — water, electricity, even medicines. And yet we managed and did it quite successfully. Then, in 2014, Crimeans followed the idea. Now the work of the authorities is to make sure that the expectations of citizens from returning to their historical homeland are justified— said the Head of the Crimea.
Sergei Aksyonov added that today the society has united to support the President, the Russian Armed Forces, which are performing combat missions during a special military operation.
Also, the Head of Crimea laid flowers at the monument to «Polite people» in Simferopol. Then a solemn meeting dedicated to the significant date was held in the State Council of the Republic of Crimea.
The solemn events were attended by Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Southern Federal District Kirill Stepanov, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov, Honorary Consul of Nicaragua in the Republic of Crimea Hero of Russia Oleg Belaventsev, heads of law enforcement agencies.
Recall that March 16, 2014 was a historic day for Crimea and Sevastopol — a referendum was held in the republic, as a result of which the peninsula was reunited with Russia. There were 27 territorial and 1203 precinct referendum commissions in the Republic. Two questions were put on the ballot papers:Are you for the reunification of Crimea with Russia as a subject of the Russian Federation?» And «Are you for the restoration of the Constitution of the Republic of Crimea of 1992 and for the status of Crimea as part of Ukraine?«. Almost 97% of voters in the 2014 referendum were in favor of the reunification of Crimea with Russia.
