«Ivan Khurs» will replenish supplies in Sevastopol and continue to perform tasks in the Black Sea

As we already the reconnaissance ship of the Black Sea Fleet «Ivan Khurs» arrived at the permanent base in Sevastopol after performing special tasks in the Black Sea.
Being in the Black Sea since the end of April of this year, the crew performed tasks to ensure the safety of the operation of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines in the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Turkey, and also monitored the surface situation in the southwestern part of the Black Sea in order to ensuring the safety of navigation within the framework of the Grain Deal.
On May 24, 140 kilometers northeast of the Bosphorus, the ship was attacked by three Ukrainian unmanned speedboats, which were destroyed by fire from the ship’s standard armament — 14.5 mm machine gun turrets. As a result of an unsuccessful attack, all enemy boats were destroyed— in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Interestingly, the ship’s entry into Sevastopol coincided with a memorable date in the history of the Black Sea Fleet associated with the feat of the crew of the Mercury brig under the command of Lieutenant Commander Alexander Kazarsky, who emerged victorious from an unequal battle with two Turkish ships on May 26, 1829.
In connection with the memorable date, when entering the base of the reconnaissance ship «Ivan Khurs» on the Konstantinovskaya battery, a historical replica of the flag of the brig «Mercury» was raised as a symbol of the continuity of the combat traditions of the sailors of the Black Sea Fleet.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation specified:
At the base point, the ship will replenish material reserves, after which it will continue to perform tasks as intended.
