Thanks to the resumption of the supply of Dnieper water in four regions of Crimea, rice growing is being revived
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The head of the Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, spoke about the plans of the Crimean rice growers for the current agricultural season. According to him, it was possible to revive the industry in the Republic thanks to the resumption of the supply of Dnieper water, which made it possible to get the first harvest as early as 2022.
Last year, rice growers produced about 6,000 tons of rice from an area of 712 hectares. The average yield was 84.3 c/ha, and the Patriot variety yielded more than 90 c/ha, which is significantly higher compared to other regions of Russia, — emphasized the Head of Crimea.
He added that rice will be grown this year in the Dzhankoy, Krasnoperekop, Nizhnegorsk and Razdolnensky districts.
To date, the applications of 13 rice-growing enterprises have been approved. Planned sowing area — about 3 thousand hectares; volume of water supply — almost 145 million cubic meters. Our farmers plan to harvest 20 thousand tons of rice, — Sergey Aksyonov said.
