They don’t want to live in debt: the volume of cash loans in January decreased by 25%

The United Credit Bureau (UCB) has summed up the lending activity of citizens in January 2023 based on information from creditors who submit data to the Bureau.
In January 2023, the volume of new cash loans decreased compared to the previous month by 25%and the quantity is 23%. For the first month of the current year, 1.40 million loans for 361.99 billion rubles., in December 2022 — 1.82 million loans for 481.06 billion rubles. The average credit check decreased by 2%: from 264 to 258 thousand rubles.
In terms of cash loans, the top five included: Moscow — 94.17 thousand loans for 37.98 billion rubles., Moscow region. — 85.31 thousand loans for 29.49 billion rubles, St. Petersburg — 44.43 thousand loans for 15.17 billion rubles, Krasnodar Territory — 57.52 thousand loans for 14.65 billion rubles, Sverdlovsk region. — 43.59 thousand loans for 10.53 billion rubles.
The largest cash loans were taken in September by residents of Moscow — an average of 403 thousand rubles, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug — 360 thousand rubles, Moscow region. — 346 thousand rubles, St. Petersburg — 341 thousand rubles. and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — 331 thousand rubles. The most modest average check (out of the TOP-30 regions in terms of issuance) is among residents of the Saratov region. — 207 thousand rubles.
In all regions of the TOP-30, there is an annual decline in the volume and number of cash loans issued. The highest rates of decline in volumes are observed in Bashkortostan: -31% by December 2022 with a decrease in the number by 28%. The smallest decline in cash lending in the Belgorod region: -19% with a decrease in the number of new loans by 20%. The largest increase in the average check amounted to 3% and was recorded in several regions: Altai and Primorsky Territories, Chelyabinsk Region. The most significant decrease in the average check is in Moscow: -11%, from 452 to 403 thousand rubles.
